Sunday Update 5

SCSDA's September Shootout wrapped up on Sunday with a ton of great 300' sand drag racing. Jim Hammond scored the Top Alcohol victory defeating Cory McClenathan, piloting the Larry Minor Motorsports Pro Mod Jeep. Wes Gilmore scored his first Top Eliminator class win piloting his Jeep to victory over class points leader Vickie Hall. Robert Skidmore laid down some nice laps en route to the Fast Fours victory over Sally Rasmussen. “Wheelie King” Nick Shultzman earned the Pro Mod Unlimited victory defeating Cory McClenathan. Tommy Zavala finshed off an incredible weekend, where he scored 5 victories in 5 classes entered, including both the Pro 1 and Pro 2 classes today. The Adamson Family Racing team was well represented in the Pro 3 final where Chris Adamson defeated son Justin in the final round. Tessa Nunes (Motorcycle Pro 1) and Randy Mings (Motorcycle Pro 2) emerged victorious in the Motorcycle Pro Bracket categories. Saturday Update 3 from the SCSDA September Shootout at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA. Aaron Bailey threw down a huge lap in the final session of TE Qualifying with a 2.953 on the 2.95 class index to take the top spot. The TE field is incredible this weekend with the 12-car field separated by only .07. Jim Hammond bettered his #1 qualifying lap in Top Alcohol with a nice 2.53 run in Q3. Cory McClenathan laid down his best lap on the weekend in the Larry Minor Motorsports Pro Mod Unlimited Jeep with a 2.84 ET. Final Qualifying for Top Alcohol, Fast Fours and Pro Mod Unlimited as well as Eliminations in the Saturday Pro Gambler class are still to come this afternoon.

The top qualifiers after two rounds of qualifying were Jim Hammond (Top Alcohol), Damon Hall (Top Eliminator), Robert Skidmore (Fast Fours) and Cory McClenathan (Pro Mod Unlimited). Kenny Hayes put his Larry Minor Motorsports-built Jeep in the Pro Gamblers Winner's Circle defeating Joe Simeone in the final round. Racing at the Soboba Casino continues on Saturday and Sunday.

The 2019 SCSDA September Shootout event is underway at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA.
