Albright Shores Sand Dragway held their annual end of the season “Show Me The Money” race September 28-30. This year’s race saw a big showing of West Michigan Sand Dragway and Albright Shores regulars making it quite an event for the spectators.

Top Fuel

Four cars headlined this event in the Top Fuel class. Rob Schyett brought out the ABSD & WMSD track record holding Bad Frog Dragster and took the #1 qualifying spot with an impressive 2.85 off the trailer. Scott Schyett, Rob’s brother, debuted his new Bad Frog Funny Car and laid down an impressive 2.92 on his first pass in the new car. Troy Turnock’s Fiat qualified #3 with a 3.10 on his first qualifying effort while Vanderputte ran a nice 3.13 with his Procharger-equipped Small Block dragster in that same session. The class was down to three cars when round one came around as Scott Schyett’s transmission went into his brother’s car to keep it going, taking him out of the event. That would leave Troy Turnock with a single in round one that he would need as his car got out of shape at the hit forcing him to lift. The next pair saw Vanderputte kill the tree and take a 3.06-2.90 victory over the #1 qualifier Schyett. The final was anti-climatic as Vanderputte turned on the red bulb handing the win to Turnock, who once again was forced to lift.
