West Michigan Sand Dragway opened its 2007 season on May 5 with its annual Test and Tune. Mild temperatures greeted a decent turnout of racers for the test session. Ed Engel and his Dragonfly buggy ran low ET of the day with a 3.31. Jay Poortenga, Matt Peel, and Mike Bolyard were also testing their Pro Index (3.49-Faster) class rides. Bruce Hartung looks to be in the Pro Index class this year with solid 3.4 passes in his VW dragster.

Mike Page, Fred Hugo, and Dale Flaugher tested their Pro Trucks and ran in the 3.6 second range. Jim Brantley and Ryan Poortenga were also testing their Pro Truck tune ups. The large ATV contingent was led by 2006 Sportsman series runner up Chad Louth, low 4 second runs by Brian McWethy on his new bike, and Buck Rapsotnik on his red ATV. On the Sportsman side of things, 2006 Top 10 racers Tom Hartman, Tom Bray, Jeremy DeYoung, Mandee Reynders, and Teddy Clark were all getting ready for the new season. Comp class racers Mark Groenink, Trent Everett, Keith Hendricks, and Dave Weaver were all getting ready for a run at the Top 10. All in all it looks like competition will be close at WMSD in 2007.

Trent Everett tested his new alcohol injection setp and ran in the 4.3 range.

Tom Hartman brought his Blazer out for testing and ran a best of 4.47.

Jim Brantley's car sported the "Plum Crazy" coupe body for this test session.

Matt Peel brought out his funny jeep and ran in the 3.4's.
