The 2013 SCSDA Finals came to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA. Jimmy DePasse made history in the DePasse/Otis Blown Jeep by not only winning the Pro Mod Unlimited class, but also setting a new A/Pro Jeep World Record with a 2.796 as well as being the first ever Jeep to dip into the 2.7-second range. Gary Mink continued his Top Alcohol class domination with an impressive string of 2.4-second laps to take the victory over Jim Hammond in the final round. Billy Morris had a double-up weekend to remember as he won both the Top Eliminator & Top Fuel classes. The Animal Control team proved unstoppable in Fast Fours action as Daniel, DL, and Dwight King made the right calls throughout the day and recorded a 2.88 to take the final round win over Don Minkle. The Pro Bracket classes were super competitive on Sunday with Bob Cambridge (Pro 1), Tara DeNunzio (Pro 2), Charlie Johnson (Pro 3), Brad Olson (Motorcycle Pro 1), and Jeff Coale (Motorcycle Pro 2) emerging victorious. The Junior classes were also on the card for today with Ryan Rodriguez (Junior Dragster), Kolton Wolfgang (Juniors), Levi Suggs (Mini Jr. Dragster), and Deegan Gutierrez (Peewees) all scoring big wins. **Run Sheets are now posted from this event.**

Day two of the SCSDA Season Finals at the Soboba Casino produced some excellent times throughout the day. Gary Mink had a huge day in his “Bad to the Bone” Top Alcohol Dragster. Gary not only qualified #1 with a Top Alcohol track record ET of 2.44, but he also won the final round from the October SCSDA race in a great race over David Morton. Gary’s Central California neighbor Paul Taylor was on his game in Top Eliminator carding a perfect 2.950 on the 2.95 class Index to lead the field into race day. Jimmy DePasse in the DePasse/Otis Simpson Jeep ran an incredible 2.86 to top the Pro Mod Unlimited qualifying sheet. First day qualifying leaders Billy Morris (Top Fuel) and Robert Skidmore (Fast Fours) hung on to their respective top qualifying positions. Charlie Johnson was the big winner in the Pro Gambler class as he defeated his brother, Wes Johnson in the final round. Jack Vandigriff scored the Motorcycle Gambler title over Wyatt Larson. Another great win on the day belonged to Ty Larson, who won the Sportsman 1 category in his unique 63 Corvette. Other winners on the day included Rick Hendershott (Sportsman 2), Mark Ratliff (Motorcycle Sportsman 1), and Jeff Coale (Motorcycle Sportsman 2). Eliminations in the remaining classes finish up on Sunday as the winners and champions will be crowned.

The 2013 SCSDA Season Finals are underway at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, CA. Billy Morris ran a great 2.35 in the Team UTI Top Fueler for Low ET of the day. Oklahoma’s Rod Trower leads the pack in Top Alcohol with a 2.50/140MPH in his first pass on the Soboba track. Paul Graham’s Excavator Buggy ran the best time in Top Eliminator with a 2.976 on the 2.95 class Index. The Fast Fours put on a great show. Mario Tavares emerged victorious as he faced Art Cronin to decide the winner of the October event. This was a bizarre final round as Art red lighted away a 2.95 while Mario had issues and idled down the track to the victory. But the biggest story was the Quickest Fast Fours run ever as Robert Skidmore ran a 2.701/118MPH blast with a 1.05 60’ time. Geoff Gill leads the field in Pro Mod Unlimited with a 3.09 pass in the Larry Minor Motorsports Jeep. Racing action continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Heads-Up class qualifying as well as eliminations in Sportsman & Gambler classes.
