Welcome to National Sand Drag News, the first online magazine dedicated to the sport of sand drag racing. The goal is for NSDN to become the first place racers, spectators, and sponsors look for news and notes in the sand drag racing world. We intend to bring you a new issue of National Sand Drag News each month consisting of columns and features highlighting the biggest stories in sand drag racing. You will want to visit more often than once a month though as we will be while updating news as it breaks (hopefully several times a week) and race results as soon as possible (some events on a same-day basis).

Let me start off by introducing myself. If you don’t know me already, I am Tom Bray, the owner/editor of NSDN. I grew up around sand drag racing in Michigan, where I reside. After racing my way up through the junior classes and crewing for my dad’s dragster at West Michigan Sand Dragway (WMSD), I moved up into the adult classes with my current CJ-7 race Jeep. This acquisition put me in position to win many races as well as back-to-back Sportsman Point Series championships at WMSD in 2004 and 2005. 

 In 2004, I started the now defunct Michigan Sand Drag News (MSDN) web site. MSDN became a fixture in the sand drag racing community, but my goal was to always expand to a national news web site. The decision to close MSDN was made late in 2006 as being relegated to a regionally focused site severely limited advertising options and ultimately a business decision had to be made. After a few informal discussions, it became obvious there was a niche that needed to be filled in sand drag news which led to what you see now with NSDN. 

Looking ahead to the future, I have assembled a core group of columnists to provide their outlook of the sport and assist in helping present sand drag racing news in the highest quality possible. However, we do need support from the rest of the sand drag community to keep things fresh and exciting. This issue is a limited version intended to wet your appetites. NSDN will head to San Jacinto, CA for the NSDA opener and we will move ahead full throttle from there. The future is bright for NSDN, and we hope you will continue to stick with us.
