September was another great month of sand drag racing with large events across the country. In September, we had event coverage from the NSDA at San Jacinto, WMSD, Thunder Valley, Atoka, and last but not least Albright Shores. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend and race at the Show Me the Money event at Albright Shores Sand Drags in Eastern Michigan. After a long season, this was exactly the type of race that the large contingent of WMSD racers that showed up needed. The hospitality was second to none and the laid back atmosphere was greatly appreciated. Thanks goes out to the crew that worked hard all weekend to keep the race moving along.

At the Albright Shores race, NSDN presented an award for the best Reaction Time in the first round of eliminations of the Show Me the Money classes. Keith Hendricks and his “Transplant” Buggy took home the money with a .014 light in his first round victory. Keith then proceeded to defeat yours truly in round two by .001. Congrats to Keith!! Another special mention from this race goes out to “Fast Freddy” Hugo who nearly pulled off a double victory taking the $1000 Show Me the Money victory and runner-up in the Richards Auto Parts Pro Truck class. Fred was certainly on his game on this particular weekend.

Looking ahead, October always brings about the annual pilgrimage to Primm, NV for the “Big Go” of sand drag racing. We will be on site with daily race coverage and perhaps some other extra features from this event. Stay tuned to NSDN for all of the latest in sand drag racing news. Until next month…
