Tom gave me a break last month as a holiday gift and in reality the sand drag world in this part of the country is obviously a little slow this time of year.  So, it is a little difficult to find a good topic to write about.  However, cabin fever is starting to set in on me and Tom’s great reporting from the NSDA opener in Yuma, AZ got me thinking that it was time to hit the shop and start getting the race cars ready for the impending season.

Apparently, all the track owners and promoters are starting to think the same thing.  My inbox is starting to fill up with track schedules and bench racing is starting to heat-up over on my website.  From what I am seeing 2008 is stacking up to be a very promising season in the Midwest.  Two events that were new in 2007 were the $10,000 Union County Speedway bracket race and the Richard’s Auto Parts / Bad Frog Beer Pro Truck Shootout and World’s Fastest 4x4 Showdown held at WMSD. These events should be even bigger and better than last year and are this writer’s picks for don’t miss events.

Along with some great races there is also some hope for some new tracks in 2008.  I don’t have enough details at this time to fill you in on locations and schedules but as I get that information I’ll pass it on.

So, this will be a short story, but I’m including a schedule for races occurring in the Midwest in 2008.  If you have any events you would like to add or want information on any of the events I have listed in the schedule, you can always reach me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
