tbjeeplead10.jpgThe month of July has flown past us, and it’s time to wrap up that month of racing as well as look forward to what is ahead in August. July was highlighted by the biggest race of the Michigan season, the traditional U.S. Sand Nationals at West Michigan Sand Dragway in Mears, MI. For the second year in a row, the Pro Truck Nationals series was contested along side this large event. All of the draws to this race made for an exceptional turnout, right up there with the biggest I have seen all year long. The PTN series did a great job putting on their part of the show, and promoting it to draw in many out of state racers. The north pit area was so filled with out of state & out of town racers that it brought back memories of years past. It definitely shows that there is still enthusiasm and excitement out there in our great sport. WMSD’s crew did a great job putting on the show, and a nice spectator crowd was on hand to experience it. This definitely was one of the highlight events of the 2010 race season.

Now moving on into August, this month will see the PTN series come to a close for 2010 at Big River Sand Drags in Bonne Terre, MO. This was one of the premier races across the country last season, and it’s sounding even bigger and better for this year. If you are in the area, or are looking for a race in August, this is sure sounding like the one to go to. The Pro Truck class point series title is still up for grabs with multiple racers still with a shot. It’s almost a lock that the battle will go down to the late rounds of eliminations. In the 3.5 Index class, the Dreher Race Cars team of John & JR Dreher have a pretty good lock on the championship if they go a couple rounds, but an early loss could open the door up for Ben Dozeman or Dan Wies to sneak in & take away the crown. The focus will also be on the Comp Eliminator bracket class, 4.99-Faster, Sportsman Tree category that boasts a $2000 purse. With a large contingent of out of staters aiming to take that money home, it’s going to certainly be a battle to see if a hometown racer, or if an invader will take home the big bucks. We will be track side with all the latest updates from this great upcoming event.

Looking slightly further ahead, NSDN will be making our first trip to Thunder Valley Sand Drags in Grain Valley, MO for the Sept. 9-11 Sho-Me Fall Nationals. This race looks to be a great battle with added cash in the Top Alcohol & Top Eliminator categories. For any TA or TE cars looking for an early September outing, this looks to be a great event. TVSD is known for tons of hook, so bring your wheelie bars & shoot for the records. They will also be running their full complement of bracket classes. Stay tuned for more information on this upcoming event.

We are certainly looking forward to the remainder of the 2010 race season. It’s been a great ride, and only looks to get even better. Until next month…
