Sunday saw the conclusion of the 2010 West Coast Winternational Sand Drags in Kingman, AZ. Dennis Rieck took home the victory in the Top Fuel class with a 2.49 final round winning time. The Top Alcohol class was dominated by Gary Mink, who ran Low ET of the entire event with a 2.43 in round two eliminations. Billy Morris topped an extremely tough Top Eliminator field to complete an undefeated season. Brian Chapman and the Short Fuse team emerged victorious in the A/Fuel class running a 2.89 to defeat Art Cronin in the final round. Read on from more results from this event.

Saturday

The weekend continued on with great Saturday action at the Napa Racing West Coast Winerational Sand Drags in Kingman, AZ. Dennis Rieck stayed atop the Top Fuel qualifying list with his Hammer Down Top Fueler running a 2.484. Gary Mink rolled in and stole the show in Top Alcohol with an amazing 2.432 to lead the field into Sunday. Jim Rossi performed a rare feat and ran a perfect 2.950 to top the Top Eliminator class in qualifying. Brian Chapman drove his Short Fuse Dragster to the top spot in A/Fuel with a 2.992. Racing action finishes on Sunday with eliminations in all categories.

Notes
- Dennis Rieck stayed in the top spot with a 2.48 in his first qualifier on Saturday.
- Matt Ludlow made one pass on Saturday, a nice 2.53 lap in the Coldwater Kid car.
- Marcus Norris ran another personal best with a 2.552, however parts breakage has taken them out of competition for the weekend.
- John Cadzow ran a 2.56 in Saturday’s opening round. In the final session, he laid down a great looking pass, however there was a timing system failure resulting in both his & Dennis Rieck’s passes not recording at time.
- Terri Blair made a nice looking pass with the Fugowie dual-tire car with an early shut off 2.897.

Day 1 racing action is complete at the 2010 Napa Racing West Coast Winternational Sand Drags. The great new race facility at the Mohave County Fairgrounds in Kingman, AZ is playing host this weekend to one of the largest sand drag races anywhere in recent history. Early round qualifying for the top categories topped the bill on Friday with those racers taking to the track for two qualifying sessions. Dennis Rieck leads the Top Fuel list in the Hammer Down entry with a 2.518 pass. Craig Sines’ long trip from the Northwest is paying off as he currently sits in the top spot in Top Alcohol with a 2.569. Top Eliminator is currently led by Billy Morris with a 2.976. Bracket competitors got passes in for test and tune on Friday. Saturday will see final qualifying for the top classes with time trials & early round eliminations taking place in the bracket categories. Stick with NSDN throughout the weekend for all the latest.

- Dennis Rieck leads the field heading into Saturday with a 2.518 early shut off pass after his weekend opening 2.713/130mph run earlier in the day.
- Marcus Norris ran a personal best 2.612 to wind up in 2nd spot after day 1.
- John Cadzow made a pretty pass in the Cadzow Motorsports Top Fueler, however there was a timing system error and no time was recorded.
- There are three more Top Fuelers on site that have not made an attempt yet. They are the Coldwater Kid team of Matt & Dwight Ludlow, Rick Cameron & the Cameron Motorsports Fueler, and the Gary Brown-owned, Pete Schenk-driven Turtle’s Toy entry.
