lead.jpgWest Michigan Sand Dragway in Mears, MI held their Quick 16 Shootout over the 4th of July Weekend. A great turnout of racers was greeted with excellent weather & track conditions throughout the whole event. Here is a recap of the event through photos from Jesse & Tammie Easterling of PDQ Photos.

Dale Flaugher was the weekend's big winner, taking the Quick 16 Shootout victory.

Kip Martin drove the "Primal Scream" Jeep to the Pro Truck class win as well as a runner-up finish in Pro 1.

Bob Ramlow kept up his 4th of July winning ways by taking the Pro 1 victory in his "Strictly Business" Altered.

Brian McWethy picked up the top honors in the Pro ATV class on his Snowmo-powered ATV.

NSDN Editor Tom Bray took the win in Sportsman 2 & was runner-up in Sportsman 1.

Jessie Berzley took the Junior ATV class victory.

Makayla Beld topped the Junior Dragster category.

Bryson Turner (Near Lane) emerged as the Mighty Midgets class winner.

Lee Reynders took home the runner-up trophy in the Pro Truck class.

Roger Young drove the Runnin' Wild Jeep to a second place finish in the Sportsman 2 class.

One of the coolest Junior race cars in competition is Nathan Vereeke's awesome looking mini Ford Bronco.

Mike & Kathy Ellington made the haul to WMSD from Ohio. Mike ran a perfect 3.500 in 3.5 Index competition, however he fell to eventual winner Jay Poortenga on that pass.

The Ben Dozeman/Jon Jensen SBC-powered Dragster dipped well into the 3.3 second zone over the weekend.

Mike Bolyard's Bronco ran a pair of impressive 3.47's as he continues to improve with the new Blower combination.

Matt Willis did a great job lengthening his Motorcycle-powered ATV over the winter. We are looking forward to seeing how fast it will go once the bugs get worked out of it.

Junior Dragster champion Tyler Walla made his debut in the Adult class & looks to be a definite threat in the Sportsman 1 class as the season progresses.

Ben Dozeman came up just short with a semi-final finish in the Quick 16 Shootout.

Dave Kramer had the juice cranked up and laid down some great passes in the Super Toy Jeep.
