Like most people involved in the sport, I’m a
big fan of the Nostalgia in sand drag racing. Seeing where we came from and how
the sport has evolved is very interesting, not to mention there was some stuff
that was just plain awesome that raced in yesteryear. I came across a gem on
eBay just before Christmas. This was a copy of the first edition of SandPaper, touted
as “The Sand Racers Hotline” and the Official Voice of NSCA. At the end of the
auction, I would emerge victorious & this would end up in my vast
collection of sand drag memorabilia. Of course, I want to share this with the
rest of the sand drag community. Click “Read More” & scroll through various
pages of excellent sand drag racing nostalgia.

Butch Blair in his rear-engine Vegas Funny Car. According to Butch, this car was owned by Larry Minor before he raced it. According to the article, Butch won his first FC event at Santa Maria in this car defeating Jim DePasse (current driver of Ron "Otis" Simpson's Blown Jeep) for the eliminator win.
Check out current TF racer Rick Cameron in the upper right corner putting a set of scoops on his Dragster for competition on the sand. Also, bottom right is the dual-tire Top Fueler of Larry Minor. Larry currently owns the Pro Mod/Pro Outlaw FE/TE Jeep driven by Geoff Gill.
