The 17th Annual Appletree Automotive U.S. Sand Nationals at West Michigan Sand Dragway featuring the Pro Truck Nationals series is finally in the books. Ben Dozeman was the big winner of the weekend pulling off the Pro Truck class win and an unlikely come from behind PTN point series championship. Ben had to win the final round to avoid a 3-way tie for the top spot for the Pro Truck title and he was able to squeak out a final round victory over Kip Martin by .001. Josh Stephens was also a big winner on the weekend winning the Fastest 4WD Shootout and running a best of 3.04 on the weekend. Saturday

Ionia Sand Drags played host to some great racing action at the third stop of the 2009 Pro Truck Nationals series. Jay Poortenga was the big winner in the Pro Truck class. Jay defeated Mike Page in the final round when Mike was disqualified for going out of bounds. The points chase will be extremely tight heading into the season finale next weekend. Pat Goodale set a new track record at Ionia with a 2.485 in Top Alcohol qualifying, then went on to defeat Rod Trower for the Top Alcohol Shootout victory. Racing action is complete at WMSD’s 4th of July Shootout event. The featured class on Saturday was the $800 to win Quick 16 Shootout. Kip Martin ran a string of low 3.6’s en route to the big pay check at the end of the night defeating Mike Page in the final round. Read on for full results.
